Sustainable Resource Management
Properly
managed, wild seaweeds are a rapidly renewable resource.
Acadian Seaplants carefully oversees the ecosystem
involving both marine plants and other marine life. Our
company supports government licensing of harvesting territories
to ensure the sustainability of the valuable resource and
its ecosystem. We employ a team of experienced seaweed resource
managers as well as Marine Biologist, Dr. Raul Ugarte, to
apply exacting and comprehensive marine plant management
procedures and controls over all of our harvesting territories.
Acadian
Seaplants'
approach
to research has advanced both the fundamental and applied
scientific study of seaweed and is responsible, in real
terms, for advancing on a global scale the understanding
of the ecology of seaweed.
Environmental Policy
| Hand-harvesting
All of our products are manufactured
from select seaweeds which are harvested by experienced
hand-harvesters using specially designed harvesting
tools. This process not only ensures the best of the
select seaweed species is harvested; the procedure
is also gentle on the ecosystem.
